Norway’s Labour Inspection Authority is intensifying inspections in the hospitality sector this year to ensure businesses comply with workplace regulations. The decision follows earlier inspections revealing numerous violations and the need for tougher sanctions.

The hospitality sector consists largely of small businesses with high staff turnover and many vulnerable workers, including young and foreign employees. Some establishments deliberately evade laws related to working conditions, taxes and permits.

Director Torgeir Moholt of the Labour Inspection Authority stresses that stricter reactions will be given compared with previous years to secure a safe and fair workplace.
