.”Dan Bridges is a life-long resident of Pettis County and graduate of Green Ridge R-VIII High School. Upon graduation Dan joined the Marine Corps and has served in Afghanistan and Iraq among other places across the US and around the globe. Dan also began his struggle with alcohol during this time. While serving Dan found recovery through an inpatient treatment center in San Diego and maintained sobriety through a 12-Step program for more than 5 years. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, after 17 years of service, Dan and his wife Valerie returned to Sedalia to raise their family. The transition from military to civilian life was not easy and Dan found himself gaining weight and struggling with his recovery but, as part of the Healthy U Couch to 5k program he was able to find a renewed purpose and regain both his physical and emotional health. Soon after, Dan became an ambassador for Runwell in October of 2014 and has been working hard to raise awareness about Runwell and to raise funds so that those who are battling addiction can receive the life-saving services they need to survive. Currently Dan assists people with barriers to employment in reaching their vocational goals at the Center for Human Services, is a Master of Social Work student at the University of Missouri, and is active in the recovery community in Pettis County by volunteering his time with the Heartland Recovery Resource Center.
